Calico Sisters

In the 1860s six orphan girls from diverse backgrounds unite to protect themselves and others while pursuing their dreams in the West as they spread a trail of righteousness and justice for all.

In a captivating limited series, the lives of six girls from diverse backgrounds experience tragic events, leaving them orphaned and entangled with one another. We open in 2028 when the descendant of one of the girls opens a journal and a picture floats to the floor showing a Chumas Indian Princess, an African-American slave, a Chinese and Romanian immigrant, a French girl, and a mute Irish American. Their diverse backgrounds breed distrust and prejudice toward one another. Eventually, they confront the harsh realities of their surroundings, master individual skill sets, bond, then band together for survival traveling from California to Washington, D.C. Against the backdrop of lawlessness, extreme prejudices, and an unforgiving landscape, they are hunted by a lawman, confront an evil Circus Ringmaster, shut down a brothel, save a wagon train, evade renegade Indians, tackle brutal white men, survive kidnappings, and stagecoach robberies then experience first love. The Calico Sisters not only fend for themselves but become protectors of the vulnerable. In seeking an identity to display their united presence although from diverse cultures and beliefs, the calico dresses are their uniform and camouflage their abilities as they become known for defending those who are persecuted and abused. Each girl will become a young woman, whose actions will present the fabric of life; loyalty, justice, and perseverance. The Indian Princess is on a mission, and it is adopted by the sisters as they confront the President of the U.S. about the perils of the Indigenous, immigrants, and African Americans, especially women and children in hopes to save the nation from itself. We revisit 2028 with a riveting revelation regarding the girl with the journal mother’s profound position in the U.S. as the descendant of the Chumash Indian Princess becomes the first Indigenous and woman President of the U.S.
