Bubbling Under the Surface

After an elderly Holocaust survivor is nearly murdered in her nursing home bed, her family and the Muslim carer who saved her are pulled into a widening chain of antisemitic attacks, domestic violence, and police investigation that threatens both communities before the hatred spreads further.

Bubbling Under the Surface is a political crime thriller set in a world where truth is increasingly under threat.

When Edith, a Holocaust survivor, narrowly survives an attempted murder in her nursing home — saved by a tea attendant, Fatima — the incident is initially dismissed as isolated. But as a series of increasingly coordinated attacks on other survivors emerges, a far more disturbing pattern begins to take shape.

As a police task force investigates, Edith’s grandson Joel becomes increasingly unsettled by the sense that the threat is closer — and more organised — than anyone is willing to admit. While authorities follow official leads, those closest to the victims begin to notice fractures beneath the surface.

Within Fatima’s extended family, quiet suspicions grow as small inconsistencies point toward something far more complex — and far more dangerous — than random acts of violence.

As fear spreads and misinformation distorts reality, the truth becomes undeniable: the attacks are part of a coordinated effort to eliminate the last living witnesses of the Holocaust. What follows is a race against time to expose a network operating in the shadows — before history itself can be erased.

Set against a backdrop of rising division and radicalisation, Bubbling Under the Surface is both a tense, character-driven thriller and a timely exploration of memory, denial, and the cost of silence.
