Walking Close To The Edge

A young man on a solo hiking trip at the end of the summer vacation falls in beside an extraordinary old woman who teaches him a thing or two about taking risks and finding your wings as she swiftly leads the way up a forested back mountain road, revealing her true self at the top

Steve has recently graduated with an arts degree. He takes a month off at the end of the summer before going to graduate school and goes hiking where he used to go with his parents as a child before they split up.

He has a difficult phone conversation with his father before leaving, who is disappointed Steve isn’t choosing to visit him, angry he isn’t working. His mother is understanding, knowing he needs to find himself.

He hitches a ride at the end of the Hood to Coast route he has been walking but sees an unusual looking old woman walking swiftly up the narrow mountainous road and joins her. As they stride up the road he learns to walk confidently close to the edge and she encourages him to choose danger and risk. They arrive at the top of the forested mountain road to a tremendous view of the world below. She reveals herself as Dianna the Roman Goddess with wings on her feet and shining helmet and flies off, leaving him to boldly continue his journey.
