THE ALMOST BRIDE

In an attempt to preserve her parents' marriage, a former skating prodigy enlists a risk-adverse publishing executive to pose as her fiancé, but when their elaborate charade spirals out of control, can she fix her own relationship missteps to land a happy ending for everyone?

Livvy O’Beirne has always struggled to meet her mother’s expectations - particularly in the romance department. As the daughter of a proud Mexican mother and a reserved Irish father, she’s spent her life navigating two cultures, and feels she’s never quite measured up to the family ideal, especially compared to her younger brother, Christian. While Christian excels in his high-powered career and effortlessly charms their mother, Livvy is still recovering from her dashed dreams of Olympic skating glory after a career-ending injury. Now working as an animal acupuncturist, she’s determined to prove her life is successful, even if it looks vastly different from what everyone expected.

When Livvy and Christian notice cracks forming in their parents’ seemingly solid marriage, Christian blurts out that Livvy is engaged, hoping a big family event will rekindle their parents’ love. The only problem? The groom doesn’t exist - until Christian ropes in Kit Montgomery, an ultra-cautious British executive with a fear of adventure, to play the role of her Australian fiancé.

With Livvy’s mother excitedly planning a wedding, a fabricated love story to maintain, and a chemistry between Livvy and Kit that neither saw coming, the line between fiction and reality blurs as Kit is lovingly accepted into the O'Beirne fold. While their ruse forces Livvy and Christian into a reluctant alliance, it’s not long before clashes and cultural expectations come to the forefront. Meanwhile, Christian’s initial confidence in the plan quickly turns to panic when he realizes that Kit is not just any executive - he’s in town to acquire the publishing company Christian works for. Suddenly, Christian isn’t just worried about keeping their parents together; he’s terrified that his impulsive scheme will cost him his job.

Longing to be part of the O'Beirne family for real, Kit professes his feelings on Christmas Eve, but his reveal backfires as Livvy and Christian's long-simmering sibling rivalry finally boils over and the entire fake engagement scheme is exposed. Shattered by her parents' disappointment in her, Livvy turns on Kit and he leaves, dejected, ready to return to his safe life back in London.

Livvy's parents have a ruse up their sleeve of their own though, and rally around Kit, helping him pull off a New Year’s Eve proposal on a magically transformed ice rink where Livvy confronts the remnants of her past and Kit takes a leap of faith for the future. In the end, their farcical ruse transforms into a genuine love story, rekindling hope not only for Livvy and Kit but for the entire O’Beirne family.

Why This Story? The Almost Bride is a charming, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy filled with mistaken identities, meddling families, and a slow-burn romance that keeps audiences hooked. With a diverse, lovable cast and a fresh take on the fake-dating trope, this story delivers both humor and honest emotions that make it a perfect fit for fans of Crazy Rich Asians, While You Were Sleeping, and The Proposal. A bittersweet comedy-of-errors about love, loss, and the messy beauty of family, The Almost Bride reminds us that even the most absurd situations can lead to authentic, life-changing moments.
