Annie's excitement at meeting Karen, however, quickly turns into her worst nightmare. Annie is heart-broken to discover the woman she has aspired to be exactly like is nothing more than a condescending she-devil in designer shoes. After Karen throws a tantrum and verbally assaults her, Annie dumps the celebrity out on the street in rush hour traffic, losing both her job and her raison d'être. Determined to turn Karen back into the object worthy of her devotion, Annie vows to teach the mega-star a lesson in humility.
A master of disguise, Annie utilizes her considerable acting talents to expose Karen through a series of publicly embarrassing pranks. While posing as a French housekeeper in order to plant surveillance equipment in Karen's penthouse, Annie's get-even scheme takes on a slightly darker turn when she finds a script with the role of a lifetime. No longer content just to humiliate Karen now that she has seen even more of her true colors, Annie decides the ultimate payback is to dispose of her idol and claim the star-making role for herself.
With Karen safely out of the way on a detox retreat right before the Academy Awards, Annie taps into her vast knowledge of Karen's movies to piece together a convincing pitch that gets her a meeting with Karen's agent under the guise as Karen's rising protégé. All that's left for Annie to do is bump off her lover and take his place as Karen's driver on Oscar night to complete her scheme. The only thing she didn't plan out on her way to stardom is turning into a carbon copy of the very person she now despises.
