Keylan is secretly investigating a rising crime syndicate for his friend the DA, ADRIAN TANAKA . On the brink of discovering the mastermind’s identity, personal tragedy strikes, blinding him to the downward spiral of despair of his best friend and 2IC of their Unit, VICTOR MALENA. He’s inconsolable over the murder of his first wife. In a dangerous fire situation Victor, tanked on alcohol, manages to save a child, but then commits suicide, dying in Keylan’s arms. Out of a deep sense of grief and guilt, Keylan is determined to save Victor’s reputation at the expense of his own and pleads guilty to being the officer drunk on duty and thereby guilty of involuntary manslaughter. Everyone who knows and loves Keylan knows it’s a lie, but they’re ordered to remain silent. Despite Keylan’s stellar reputation up to now, the Prosecution “throws the book” at Keylan and the bent Judge hands down a hefty prison sentence.
The DA can’t be seen helping Keylan, so implores his long-time friend, the soon-to-retire Public Defender, EMMA KENDRICK to save Keylan, but it’s going to be an uphill battle with Keylan adamant he’s guilty.
Emma’s not buying it and is determined to get to the truth as are his friends and family. A retrial sees Keylan expunged of guilt. When he discovers the identity of the criminal mastermind and the litany of crimes directed at himself and those he loves, Keylan’s capacity for vengeance is unleashed. It will be a fight to the death.
