Big Break Screenwriting Contest
GREAT Exposure for Contest Winners & Finalists!

Nantucket Contest Results

Screenwriter Alfred Thomas Catalfo was one of the big winners at the Nantucket Film Festival after the unprecedented achievement of writing two of the three finalist scripts in the prestigious screenwriting competition sponsored by Showtime. A panel of prominent entertainment industry judges chose both scripts he submitted, the action-thriller AMERICAN FUGITIVE, co-written with Louis Morneau, and the comedy MALL COP, without being privy to the names of the writers. Catalfo, a trial attorney, was among the screenwriters honored at the Showtime luncheon held at Nantucket's Wauwinet Inn, where Brooklynite Chase Palmer was presented with the Tony Cox Award for Screenwriting for his film noir script BURIED ABOVE GROUND. Attending the Festival were Alan Cumming, Will Ferrell, Rosie Perez, Kristen Johnston, producer Ismail Merchant and director James Ivory. Two-time Academy Award-winning screenwriter Ruth Prawer Jhabvala was feted at the NBC Screenwriters Tribute.
