To Die For

A wealthy, golden aging woman lives for her aspiring dancer granddaughter. When a plot unfolds to end their lives, she realizes dying guarantees her granddaughter living and conspires with three quirky senior citizens to ensure her granddaughter fulfills her dreams.

Life lessons are learned during a humorous who done it drama, featuring a senior citizen female protagonist who breaks the mold of the typical elderly person, coupled with the dreams of a young woman who has yet to live her life, along with senior citizens escapades. Our main character, PENELOPE CRISPER, referred to as PENNY, is a wealthy 60-70’s year old woman, confident, sassy, and fit with white spiked hair and pink accents. She is the daughter of Irish immigrants and proud of going from the Bronx to Broadway to a Billionaire. A widow for twenty years, the love of her life, Herb visits her on occasions. The audience first believes he is alive then realizes Penny conjures his presence up to keep the love of her life, the deceased husband nearby. He appears on occasions to give her advice or morphs into young men she is dating (but never kisses). Penny lives for her granddaughter ANGELA, (18) a computer genius, whose dreams were shattered when her parents died tragically. Although accepted into Julliard, she becomes a cyber tech at Penny’s Company, Personal and Cyber Guardian (PCG). Penny and Angela live in New York City in Penny’s plush Penthouse. Penny loves working with Angela but is devastated that Angela lost her zest for life and tries daily to regenerate the spark she once had. Then Penelope begins to feel ill at ease with circumstances at PCG. As she investigates concerns, she is injured in a fluke accident at home, (discovers later it was orchestrated). After surgery she is admitted to a prestigious rehabilitation & wellness center in New York City. She meets three peculiar, wealthy Seniors. MARIANNA, a flamboyant, tattooed author who reverts to characters in her novels. CLARENCE, an attractive Caucasian who looks much younger than 75, and retired attorney for the Mob. MELVIN, African American, retired FBI agent with a prosthetic leg and denial of being legally blind. Penny investigates missing software at her company which precipitates a series of ‘near death’ occurrences to her and Angela. Her company is too close to investigate and although leery of the seniors at first, due to their questionable behavior, she confides in them and seeks their assistance. While Penny is in rehab Angela gets closer to PING, (21) Asian, Penny’s right-hand man who has a crush on Angela, which may or may not be a good thing. Penny’s own family is falling apart as her son, a workaholic at PCG, is getting a divorce. Penny considers his wife to be a loving daughter to her. Their two teenage children are becoming distant from Penny and her own daughter continues to render schemes to obtain money from Penny for businesses that never materialize. Penny will do anything to ensure Angela’s safe and pursue’ s her dreams, up until her last breath, and even after. Penny is declared dead from a heart attack and it’s up to the seniors to solve the crimes and ensure Angela is safe and auditions for Julliard. They investigate Pings’ worthiness as they do the involvement of Penny’s family in her company’s theft and attempts on her and Angela’s life. Escapades of seniors escaping from the “Mindfulness Unit” at the rehab center result in a chase through New York Botanical Garden and New York City, their sneaking and investigating family and employees of Pennys then kidnapping Angela and Ping to keep her safe, ending up at Bear Mountain on the Hudson River in New York. Entertaining dance scenes in flashbacks from Penny’s and Angela’s earlier careers conclude with a grand finale by Angela in a leading role at Julliard. The family is brought together in death as shockingly Penny appears alive and well and the criminals are apprehended by the seniors. TO DIE FOR exemplifies the love between a grandmother and granddaughter and how love is thicker than money. In the end Penny gifts the seniors’ condominiums in Costo Rico and celebrates her business expansion in Paris, kicking up her heels with a young Frenchman whose face morphs into Harolds.
