Two Shades of Vice

Based on the true story of a 1960s interracial couple who faces incredibly dangerous odds when they enter into a violent, vicious, and vulgar world of crime.

It is the early 1960s and vice is at an all-time high on the dangerous streets of Kansas City, Missouri. Alla Mae Briggs meets her match when a career criminal named Gordon Reynolds witnesses her skills as a masterful street hustler. Alla Mae and Gordon realize that they’ll be facing incredible odds as an interracial couple against a predominantly white racist society. The criminal competition steadily grows all around them. Their rivals will eventually try and muscle in on their action. Racist cops are infuriated to learn that they’ve been operating vice without their knowledge. In order to stay alive and to stay in business, Gordon solicits the help of the reigning Kansas City vice lord, Bruno Maggadino, to protect himself and Alla Mae. Based on the researched facts about the real-life parents of Dewey B. Reynolds—Gordon Reynolds and Alla Mae Briggs learn that they have a lot more in common than just a life of crime. It was their undying love for one another which bridged the gap between the color of their skin.
