Memories of You

After his wife's death, a distraught man undergoes a radical procedure to be injected with her memories only to learn surprising things about her past even as he is targeted by the corrupt company his wife was investigating.

DALE PACE is a thirty-eight-year-old teacher who lives with his wife GINA PACE, a journalist who is secretive about the story she's working on. Dale and Gina only have BERTIE, an old dog, following the tragic death of their infant daughter GLORIA. While at work, Dale is stunned to learn Gina has died from an apparent suicide after her car drove into a lake. Good Samaritans saved her but it was too late. However, unbeknownst to Dale, the steely MAX SITTMAN and his partner MIKE JORDAN sneak into the morgue and use a mysterious piece of technology on Gina's body.

At the funeral, Dale mourns alongside his best friend JERRY TRAVIS. The wealthy EMMA STANTON, the CEO of the company Somnium, approaches and offers her card, suggesting she knew Gina and can help Dale deal with his grief. Dale continues to struggle and is visited by RICK, Gina's editor who Dale has never met. He gives her a box of her things and asks if Gina left behind her work but Dale is unable to help. The grieving Dale finally decides to contact Emma and pays a visit to Somnium, which is near the psychiatric asylum.

Emma reveals that her company has developed a procedure that can take people's memories and put them into other people's minds. As Gina volunteered to supply her memories, they now need a test subject to serve as a recipient. Dale agrees to the procedure and is given his wife's memories. Like memories, they will periodically surface if triggered and Emma asks that he report anything he experiences. Not long after the procedure, Dale experiences the first flashback as he "remembers" the moment when Gina learned she was pregnant. Dale is unaware that he is being watched by Mike and Max, who have secretly installed surveillance equipment and are monitoring him from a nearby van.

Dale starts to experience more of Gina's memories but the incidents send him into a fugue state and this causes problems at work, leading to them putting him on leave. He keeps the truth a secret from Jerry as he triggers a recollection of a drunken Jerry making a pass at Gina. An angry Dale confronts Jerry and the friends become estranged. Dale continues to experience more memories but starts lying to Emma about it. During this, Dale has been worried he might have initial symptoms of Alzheimer's as it's affecting his father. He pays a visit to his father, DALE SENIOR, whose mental condition is deteriorating. This triggers a flashback of Dale Senior telling Gina how much Dale loves her at their wedding.

Dale starts to experience memories related to Gloria's death as it becomes clear the baby drowned while Gloria was momentarily distracted. This led to tensions in the marriage as Gloria was inconsolable and even contemplated taking pills. Dale is stunned when RICK DONAHUE visits and claims to be Emma's editor, revealing the man who visited earlier was an imposter. This leads Dale to discover the surveillance equipment and he even locates the surveillance van in the neighborhood. He also learns that ALEX KENNEDY, a Somnium scientist, has died under mysterious circumstances. This triggers a memory of Gina meeting with Alex and Dale realizes Alex was supplying her with incriminating information she was using to write a story about the company. Meanwhile, an impatient Max tries to jog Dale's memory by arranging to meet him in the guise of an internet repairman. The ruse appears to fail but Dale actually recalls Gina's final moments when he learns Max and Mike confronted her to get the information Alex had given her. The situation got out of hand and Mike accidentally killed her. This is why they raided the morgue so they could steal her memories and hopefully use them to find what they need.

Dale reconciles with Jerry and tells him the truth about what's been happening. Jerry monitors the van and, when Max heads to the lab, Dale fools Mike into coming to the house. Bertie attacks and it's revealed he's a combat veteran who served in the canine corps in Afghanistan. Mike admits they work for Somnium and are looking for a flash drive containing all of Gina's research. Mike tries to escape and Bertie is provoked into killing him. Back at Somnium, Emma insists Max get the situation under control.

Dale discovers the flash drive hidden in old salt and pepper shakers from his youth that Gina always liked. On the drive, he finds videos showing that Somnium has been using asylum patients as research subjects, sometimes transferring horrible memories into other patients with violent results. Not long after, the surveillance van crashes into a transformer station, causing a blackout at Somnium which causes the security systems to go offline. An armed Dale sneaks into the facility and catches Emma trying to escape, leading to a confrontation in which he secretly records her confessing everything. Emma flees but ends up being taken by the asylum patients she's been using as test subjects. Dale finds himself confronting Max and he defeats him but manages to control his desire for revenge by leaving him alive.

In the aftermath, firefighters find a charred body in the surveillance van (Mike's) while new evidence surfaces that pins Max to Gina's murder. Dale is left with some of Gina's memories but he is still able to put the past behind him. Elsewhere, it's revealed Emma was injected with the memories of the asylum patients and is now a patient herself as her mind is completely ruined.
