A genius scientist needs to be cloned and then befriend his replica to ensure they are identical; however, if he approves the clone, he will die himself.

Professor Martin Finch is a brilliant scientist in his 40s, running a $2 billion nuclear project. He is a workaholic, estranged from his once-beloved wife, Kathryn, and he ignores his children. After a night spent with his mistress Alessandra, Martin is devastated to be diagnosed with cancer during a checkup. Not comfortable with his small chance of recovery, the company executives offer him an alternative. In a top-secret genetics institute, he will be cloned, and his mind transferred to his replica, Martin2, who will replace him. Then, Martin will have to befriend his replica to examine whether they are identical. However, if he approves the clone, Martin will die himself.

Although Martin initially rejects this offer, he agrees after considering the future of his family and the project. While at the institute, he meets another patient undergoing the same procedure, Sarah Joyce, a celebrity Hollywood actress. As they become intimate friends and walk toward the end of this strange path together, a destiny full of surprises awaits them.
