Sunbeam

The story goes that one day, Philip K. Dick went into his bathroom and reached for the cord to turn on the light. But he’d never had a cord. He’d always had a switch.

PKD was a paranoid guy, and he decided this was evidence that something had gone wrong with the universe. The book ‘Time Out of Joint’ was the result.

I love how something so small, so unnoticeable, can reveal something so big. It’s the single biggest inspiration for everything I write.

As for the others, I’ll say Murakami for clarity, Atwood for story, and the great Bill Goldman for never taking anything too seriously.

There’s a lot of less interesting stuff I can tell you about too (like my other career writing ads for big corporates, or my OTHER other one writing greeting cards), but I’ll spare you the exposition and (hopefully) let my loglines do the talking.
