Night of Rage

CHARACTERS: JACK Narcissistic, vein, egotistical, selfish, conceited, controlling, obsessed, conceited, and self-centered. He is a closet sociopath, who evolves onto a true psychopath. VICKI Naïve, trusting and beguiled; easily influenced and manipulated by his façade of the prince and in living “happily ever after;” she becomes disenchanted, disillusioned, distrustful, doubtful, wary, apprehensive. BRUCE: Dutiful, caring, helpful, decisive, with a non-flinching attitude to confronting difficult situations and persevere and conquer; may also have a different agenda and psyche. OUTLINE: Vicki and Jack started together as the ideal couple. Vicky was only exposed to Jack’s charismatic personality and persuasive charm. She was blinded by his handsome features and alluring sexual appeal. Jack is a talented sculptor who convinces Vicki that he will only be successful for her and his family if he travels to New York and promotes himself to become marketable and sought-after artist with a unique artistic gift. Jack sets himself up in a studio and engages the services of various models; all of whom find him charming. He sets his sights on them based on their sexual appeal and promiscuous tendencies in order to conduct his multiple affairs. He meets a particular attractive woman on the street coming home and entices him to pose for him. When he presses for sex, she demands “payment in advance” and he becomes enraged that she is a hooker and strangles her. After he grasps hold of his senses and his predicament, he realizes he must dispose of her body and encases her in plaster and she becomes one of his most unique art pieces. Vicki finally gives up he patience and travels to New York to be with Jack. She arrives unexpectedly and they have a huge argument. Jack demands she return home, but when she refuses, he leaves in a rage. While his is gone, his current girlfriend, Jennifer calls and leaves a message on his answering machine, which Vicki interrupts and answers. She speaks to Jennifer and they agree to meet. After the conversation with Jennifer and their affair, Vicki returns back to Jack’s apartment to confront him. After he realizes she has wreaked his current liason, he attacks Vicki and beats her severely. Jack flees the apartment and Vicki manages to call for help and is hospitalized. Detective Bruce interviews her and takes over the domestic violence case. He is able to locate Jack and he arrests him, but he is released on bail. Under cover of night, Jack returns to his apartment where Vicki was staying and finds her packing her bags and crying. After an argument, he storms out of the bedroom. So exhausted, she crying uncontrollably and falls asleep, believing Jack left. Meanwhile Jack is in the kitchen heating up a large pot of cooking oil and brings it to the bedroom. Vicki awakens when she hears the door open. Jack enters the room and in his fury, rushes toward her enraged. He slips on the satin cover on the floor and the heated contents of the pot spill all over his upper body. He is severely burned; but Vicki manages to call for assistance in time to save him. Jack is hospitalized, but is disfigured. After his release, Jack returns to his apartment to plot a scheme of revenge against Vicki. Unknown to Vicki, who is in New York in order to prosecute the charges against him, Jack has now completely lost his mind. On the night before the trial, he manages to find out where she is staying and goes to the apartment. He is able to enter he residence with the assistance of the doorman who is overwhelmed by pity for his bandaged face and hands. After getting access to the apartment, Jack removes his fake bandages and sneaks through the space in search of Vicki. She is in the shower off of the bedroom and Jack decides to set fire to the bedroom. After disengaging the fire alarm, to trap her in the bathroom to burn like him, he sets fire to the curtains and bed in the room. While flames start to travel through the flammable fabrics, Bruce has arrived at Vicki’s door and smells smoke. He brakes down the door and rushes to the bedroom and confronts Jack. Jack rushes toward him and Bruce shoots him. Bruce then manages to get Vicki out of the apartment and saves her. The closing scene is Vicki in Bruces arms and his pledge he whispers in her ear is that he will protect her forever and ever, never to leaver her – there is maniacal look in his eyes as he smiles. Jack’s vile plan is thwarted, but after all his scheming and manipulation, Vicki now has a new threat rising from the ashes.
