A graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Gered Beeby started his career as a nuclear submarine officer. Now retired from engineering and construction management, he is also retired as a Captain in the Naval Reserve. A member of Mensa, Gered is an advocate of life-long learning.
Gered is Past President (2003) of the San Diego Writers/Editors Guild and remains a member of the Board. He contributes to the Guild's annual anthology series. He also serves as a reviewer for the San Diego Book Awards.
"Dark Option" is an adaptation of his novel of industrial espionage published in 2002. The novel was nominated for a Publisher's Marketing Association (PMA) Benjamin Franklin Award in the category "Best New Voice - Fiction" in 2003.
Active in government affairs, Gered has served on the San Diego County Grand Jury twice in 2014/2015 and in 2011/2012; both as Foreman Pro Tem. His writing includes a new screenplay, a short story collection, and his memoirs. He lives with his wife Myrna in Encinitas, CA.
