Objective
Contest founded in 1988 to provide an opportunity to compete with talent from around the world. The 42nd Annual WorldFest offers Cash Awards, Special Screenplay Master Classes, significant mentoring and project development opportunities during the ten-day festival. More than 550 international filmmakers and writers attend each year. All Remi Nominees receive VIP Gold All Access Passes to the Festival and the Master Classes (A $800 value). Each festival finds new partnerships, options on scripts, development deals and new friends and contacts in the international film industry.Rules
All entries must include a short synopsis for the jury. No limit to the number of entries. We now offer 13 different sub-categories for competition.Awards

Screenwriter Billy Maddox
An interview with screenwriter Billy Maddox regarding the Worldfest - Houston Writing Competition.
Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?A: It's called Accidental Angel, and it's about a personal injury attorney who discovers she has the power to heal.
Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?A: They have a category for TV scripts. Plus World-fest sounds big, like you are the best in the world, or something, if you win. But I took 3rd, so I'm not the best in the world. I'm 3rd best.
Q: Were you satisfied with the adminstration of the contest? Did they meet their deadlines? Did you receive all the awards that were promised?A: I was satisfied I took third. Had I won, I would be extremely satisfied. They sent me a plaque, which is not as good as cash, but I'll take it because of the "World" thing.
Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?A: No feedback was given, which I found very helpful.
Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?A: I said I got a plaque.
Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?A: I'm retired from the CIA. If I told you more, I'd have to kill you. And I can't, because I'm retired. But, yes.
Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?A: My ex-wife said I lived in the bathroom. But I was just sitting there, waiting for something to happen. So I guess it's similar. Except I don't hear anyone screaming they need to take a shower.
Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?A: I'm always working on a new script, except when I'm working on an old one.
