Jack's Head

Teenage Bonnie was a mantrap -— envied, respected, and hated like poison. Adapted from short story published in Parhelion Magazine https://parhelionliterary.com/linda-boroff/

My short story, "Jack's Head" published by Parhelion Literary Magazine in March 2020:

In the 1970s, two teen sisters from Minnesota are uprooted to Santa Monica when their father's business goes under and the family relocates. The difference between their former strict school and the lax surfer environment of Santa Monica high is so intense that the sisters are swept off their feet.

Unfashionable in their new town and self-conscious about their family's problems, the girls seek acceptance in a crowd of fast kids, and begin to shed their inhibitions. The younger sister, Judy, falls madly in love with a ne'er do well surfer who works at the Jack in the Box on Wilshire.
