A crippled retired pitcher attends the All Star festivities to play in an old timers' game and to pick up the pieces of his shattered life.
He also meets JANET HALLEY, 30, a City liaison to the games, and Janet's nine year old son, who has recently lost his father (her husband) to cancer.
Hank finds that life is not a game. And he must "step up to the plate" if he is to redeem his shattered life and find love and fulfillment in the city where it all began.
