e-DEAD

After a near-death experience, a woman discovers her dating app matches are ghosting her because they really are ghosts leaving her clues in order to solve their murders.

Nora Hayes, a senior claims analyst, narrowly survives a fall through a frozen lake, briefly entering an “in-between” realm. Afterwards, her dreams are filled with mysterious figures trying to communicate, which Nora writes off as post-trauma.

Ready for a fresh start, Nora accepts a promotion and relocates to San Diego, leaving behind her best friend, Jen, but forging a tenuous connection with her enigmatic neighbor, Evelyn, a retired police records clerk.

Lonely in her new city, Nora begins using a dating app, only to discover the men she matches with are long dead. As she investigates, she uncovers a pattern: multiple missing men tied to her neighborhood, all of whom dated the same woman, Violet--now also dead.

Nora’s visions intensify, revealing fragments of past murders. With help from Jen, Nora pieces together that the dead woman was Evelyn’s daughter, and that her elderly neighbor may have had something to do with the missing men all those years ago, under the belief she was protecting Violet.

Driven to solve the mystery and stop her visions, Nora breaks into Evelyn’s home under cover of darkness. She finds proof of Evelyn’s crimes—and also Evelyn waiting for her. A final confrontation ends with Nora escaping and Evelyn choosing suicide over capture. The spirits are finally released--until, in the final moment, Nora’s phone glitches, suggesting the connection to the dead may not be over.

In the vein of The Sixth Sense and Searching, E-DEAD blends grounded realism with supernatural tension, all within a contained, producible scope.
