Climbing the coconut trees

After waking up stranded on a mysterious tropical island with no memory of how he got there, a 27-year-old drifter who resembles Kurt Cobain crosses paths with a reclusive Rastafarian castaway; as they journey through the jungle, shocking truths emerge through fractured flashbacks, revealing a twisted adventure-horror where nothing—and no one—is what they seem.

James, a 27-year-old drifter who bears a striking resemblance to Kurt Cobain, wakes up disoriented on the shore of a remote tropical island. He has no memory of how he arrived, nor why the landscape feels both foreign and oddly familiar. With no choice but to press forward, James treks into the dense jungle, his confusion deepening with each step.

After half a day’s journey, he stumbles across Bongo, a free-spirited Rastafarian in his forties who resembles Bob Marley. Bongo claims to have lived on the island for twenty years, yet his reasons for remaining are wrapped in mystery. At first, he seems like a guide, offering James survival tips and wisdom, but his eccentric behavior and cryptic words hint at something darker beneath the surface.

As the days pass, James experiences disturbing flashbacks—fragmented memories of his past that don’t align with reality. The island itself seems alive, its shifting shadows and whispers pulling him deeper into paranoia. Eventually, Bongo cracks, revealing a harrowing truth about the island, James’s presence there, and a past James has tried—perhaps even been forced—to forget.

Piece by piece, James confronts the shocking reality of who he is, why he is truly on the island, and the horror waiting just beyond the veil of his fractured memory.

An adventure-horror filled with twists and revelations, this story explores identity, isolation, and the terrifying consequences of truth. On this island, every step closer to escape only leads James deeper into the nightmare.
