One, Second Summer (Young Adult/Romance/Sci-Fi/Dramedy)

Second Summer on Cape Cod is usually a quiet time, until a spaceship of wacky extraterrestrials come to visit, and two fearless tween-agers, determined to meet them, find out why. A fable for our time.

Did Space Aliens really kill the horses at Nelson’s stables? Twelve-year old schoolmates GEORGIE and DONOVAN team up to find out what actually happened…and discover more than they bargained for.

Donovan’s a serious science nerd, Georgie’s a funny, wise-cracking little “bohemian” – both couldn’t be more mismatched, but together they grow closer, levitate to the Spaceship and meet a raft of whacky Aliens who need both kids’ help to save the Earth.

In the meantime, GAYLE, Georgie’s divorced Mom, falls in love with CARL, a village policeman. Gayle’s still guilt-ridden, blaming herself for the accidental death of her father. She’s says she’s not ready for a new relationship, that is until CELESTA – a confidant of Georgie’s, owner of the local Curiosity Shop, and (incidentally) also a Space Alien – steps in to work her magic. All three interconnected stories merge in a spectacular, heartfelt conclusion – which includes Georgie and Donovan sharing a sweet first kiss.

WHY THIS STORY NOW? With the renewed government interest in "Unidentified Aerial Phenomena," UFOs are back in the headlines across all platforms. This contemporary Young Adult/Dramedy/Sci-Fi may spike audience interest in a surprising, entertaining way. One, Second Summer has strong female characters/a young female lead, a multicultural, other-abled cast, conjures strong visuals, and the final act takes an "I-did-not-see-that-coming" turn.
