Clandestine

On a road trip, two best friends discover a mysterious town long abandoned. Trapped inside and uncovering its truth, they must find a way out before falling into madness.

Forty-nine-year-old widower Leonard Strucker is painfully mourning the death of his wife / Highschool sweetheart, Elsie. He is riddled with guilt over her painful battle with lung cancer and ultimately blames himself for her unfortunate passing. His best friend, Malcolm Woods, expresses deep concern over his friend’s mental health and tries to distract him by taking him on a road trip across America. During the trip, their friendship profoundly strengthens as they both disclose to each other their own personal demons and guilt.

Their adventure takes an unexpected turn when Leonard’s outdated GPS persistently instructs him to veer toward a non-existing road to their next destination. Briefly studying the Magellan map, their interest peeks when they discover that this mystic road also leads to a non-existing town. Caving in to their curiosity, they decide to take on this unforeseen adventure by hiking through the woods at the dead of night. Their journey leads them to the lost town of Langville Montana. Once housing five-hundred residences, it is now a relic of the early 2000s. Their short exploration leads them to more questions than answers; Vehicles in the middle of the road with keys in the ignition. Money in registers. Automobile collisions and a crashed Cessna 172.

By morning, the real mystery presents itself as sixty-year-old Devland Renfield, the sole occupant of Langville. Desperate for answers, Mr. Renfield indulges his two guests with the town’s mystifying history. In 2001, every citizen had inexplicably vanished overnight, leaving him in total solitude for the past twenty-three years. Any attempt to leave would result in an intervention by mysterious dark forces. In his words: “They let you in but they don’t let you out”.

Malcolm, being a private investigator, puts his detective skills to use and promptly discovers that Renfield’s story is a complete fabrication. Unfortunately, his investigation leads him down a disturbing rabbit hole when he uncovers Renfield’s true alien-hybrid identity. The only dark force keeping them from escaping is Devland Renfield himself. In order to safeguard this government/alien cover up, Devland must stop the two trespassers from escaping. He makes use of his extraterrestrial knowledge of the subconscious and entraps them in their own misery inevitably leading to insanity.

Both heroes must rise above the psychological torment as to distinguish reality from fiction. Only then can they escape the confines of Langville

Author Bio:
Born in Montreal, Quebec Canada in 1979, I grew up in a household comprised of both physical and mental abuse. Most of it derived from my father, although my mother did have her share of dramas as well. It was at the age of seven, however, where the most pivotal and traumatic event occurred. It was the passing of my Godmother that really laid the foundation of the man I would eventually become. I loved her like a mother and she regarded me as her son.
