WHO WAS IZOLA WARE CURRY and why did she try to slay the king?

In 1958 while Black America was entrenched in a struggle for civil rights, a Black woman attempts to assassinate Martin Luther King Jr. A story that takes us on a profound journey into Black life from 1932 to 1968.

Born on a plantation in rural Georgia the daughter of a sharecropper, this story starts with Izola at 16 working hard on the plantation raising her younger brothers and sisters after her mother abandons the family seeking a better life in the north. After marriage, Izola leaves the south in search of a better life, which leads her to several states in America where she encounters racism and discrimination. Suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, she developed fear and hatred for Black preachers civil rights workers that eventually lead to her unpleasant encounter with the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. that could have had a severe impact on the course of Black history.
