Objective
The PAGE International Screenwriting Awards competition was established in the fall of 2003 by an alliance of Hollywood producers, agents, and development execs. Our goal: to discover the most exciting new scripts by up-and-coming writers from across the country and around the world.
As a result of winning the contest, many dozens of PAGE Award winners have signed with top Hollywood agents and managers, optioned and sold their winning scripts, and seen their movies and television shows produced, and the PAGE Awards competition is now widely recognized as one of the industry's top sources for new screenwriting talent, both within the Hollywood community and internationally.
One of the most frustrating things about so many screenwriting contests - both for the writers and for the judges - is that scripts of different genres are in competition with each other. Show More

Contest News
MovieBytes Interview:
Screenwriter Colin Preston
An interview with screenwriter Colin Preston regarding the International Writing Competition.
Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?A: "Precipice Bird" A man with no past comes to Loch Ness and falls in love with a local woman and her son. After building a life together, he and the boy accidentally kill Nessie and become infamous overnight. The man is driven away from town and his family, he disappears. Sixteen years later, the boy is a young man, a sought after photographer for dangerous situations in the wilds of the world. A call comes from an old friend of the man. The man is very much alive, though his whereabouts are unknown, and he’s sent a diary that dates back before Loch Ness. He’s found a legend or two that the world forgot and he wants the young man to find them, too. From the mountainous forests of the northwest to the deserts of north Africa, the young man trails his past and finds myths in ghosts. He discovers that the best memories and the biggest heroes come to life more than once.
Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?A: It seemed solid and the principles behind it were in line with mine. The coordinators were easily accessible and professional. Yes, I've entered many contests with this script and it has made final rounds in most.
Q: Were you satisfied with the adminstration of the contest? Did they meet their deadlines? Did you receive all the awards that were promised?A: Yes, I was very satisfied with the contest coordinators and they met their deadlines to the day (unreal!). Too soon to say about the rewards, but I don't expect there to be any issues.
Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?A: No, no feedback is offered in this competition.
Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?A: I was able to use this win to stoke the fires of some current conversations with agents and managers, but I expect there to be many more contacts due to the publicity generated through the contest.
Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?A: I have a background in writing and psychology. I've written five award winning screenplays, including some that have hit significant heights. I'm also a licensed psychotherapist with a full private practice, the experience from which helps develop the relationships and dialogue in most of my scripts.
Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?A: No, Seattle. I lived in LA for graduate work at UCLA, but while I travel there often, I find that commuter flights and FedEx are easier on a writing career than living in LA was.
Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?A: I have five new scripts about to release, including a few comedies I've loved writing, another action-adventure piece, and a horror project that scared me so much to write that I don't think I'll see it if it's ever made.
