Objective

MISSION: To provide industry exposure and support to feature screenwriters who are looking to have their stories told.

FEEDBACK: We believe that writers need feedback to improve, which is why every single entry receives FREE FEEDBACK

JUDGING: Our judges are all industry-experienced gatekeepers. The final round of judging will be completed by the best readers, guest jurors, and at least one industry member. Judging will be based on all aspects that make stories great. Budget and marketability will not be considered for this contest.

Awards

WeScreenplay as part of The WeScreenplay Feature Competition is giving away cash and prizes, including a $1,000 cash grand prize, but most importantly the top scripts will be considered by our industry jury which includes Hollywood producers, agents, and managers. Plus, every entrant receives free feedback on their project to help improve their writing.

Past WeScreenplay winners have optioned their projects, developed work with producers, and been signed by places like Heroes and Villains, Industry Entertainment, Zero Gravity, and more.

WeScreenplay Names Contest Winners

Kenlon Clark & William Rubio have been named the Grand Prize Winners of the WeScreenplay Screenwriting Contest for their script, Forged. Novelist Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game) was named the second place winner of the blindly-judged competition for his screenplay MESA 1966, along with Paul Gross for his script about Beethoven, Diminuendo. This year's WeScreenplay Competition attracted almost 1,000 submissions.

Nathan and Rebecca Jacobs are two of the brightest minds in the history of human civilization, but when their son goes missing, Rebecca will introduce a scientific breakthrough that will shock the world, and have the human race questioning their morality, mortality, and the potential limits that should be put on science.

Ludwig Van Beethoven, racing to complete two symphonies, confronts deafness, an oppressive government, unexpected family responsibilities and a failed relationship with a married woman

3rd Place Winner
THE LAST EXECUTION by Tom Vecchio
Dubbed the "mother-in-law from hell," Elizabeth "Ma" Duncan was the last woman executed in California for having her despised daughter-in-law murdered in 1958 because of an uncomfortably close relationship with her attorney son and her fear of being abandoned and alone in old age.

4th Place Winner
THE LEAN by Pearse Lehane
A disgraced lawyer must prevent an innocent man from being convicted of the murder of a police officer in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

5th Place Winner
DARLINGS by Aaron Yeung
On a farm in the middle of nowhere, a mysterious old woman and her eight-year old niece welcome in a band of criminals seeking shelter from a blizzard.
