Roommates

When two roommates find their third roommate dead in his room they panic, realizing they could be suspects, then spend hours getting drunk letting their imagination go wild, until the authorities show up.

Synopsis Roommates (2019 top 25 finalist: Table Read My Screenplay – Park City!)

When John gets up one morning and hears the non-stop alarm blaring in his roommate's room, he opens the door and sees the man dead on the floor in a puddle of blood. He panics and leaves the room to tell Bjorn, his other roommate, about it. Bjorn has a weak stomach and can’t go into the room to check it out so relies on what John says. Bjorn wants to call the cops, but John tells him it’s a ridiculous idea since they could be suspects. John agrees after realizing someone may have come in the night and killed Bill.

Not knowing what to do, they call their friend Marcia who comes over right away after Bjorn tells her he will make her breakfast. After a huge breakfast, with several pitchers of Mimosas, they still haven’t come up with a plan, so make another pitcher of Mimosas adding a bottle of Vodka to it this time. Marcia has an idea, telling them they should call a paramedic instead of the police and tell them Bill is just sick.

After Bjorn mixes a pitcher of bloody Mary’s using Gin, the three decide to go to the bedroom and look for a weapon. John proceeds to get his fingerprints on everything and Bjorn tells him that he is most likely going to go to prison. After drinking the remainder of the pitcher of bloody Mary’s Marcia passes out on the bed, and the other two follow, waking up hours later, hung-over.

After making the call, three paramedics and two ambulance drivers show up. One of the paramedics calls the police and soon the apartment is filled with people. Bjorn, John and Marcia sit on the couch, waiting for the hammer to fall, arguing amongst themselves. Instead, a police officer comes out of the bedroom to inform the three that the roommate has died of a heart attack and most likely fell on the glass he was carrying and slit his arm, which is where the blood came in. The three of them begin to laugh and can’t contain themselves as the stretcher is rolled through the living room and out the door. Marcia leaves and slams the door behind her. Bjorn and John are left to discuss the entire day. We see them through the window talking with their hands.
