Doreene entered the entertainment industry through the world of comedy. As a New York improvisational – sketch performer, Doreene fell in love with creating characters. Her characters embraced her Jamaican roots and her New York upbringing. Working in commercials and the Off-Broadway scene, someone gave her the bright idea of coming to Hollywood… things are easier there. Well, she’s been there saving face ever since! In the Los Angeles scene, Doreene has had the opportunity to work as a Performer, Writer, Story Producer, Development / Talent Executive, and Arts Administrator.

In the Los Angeles scene, Doreene has had the opportunity to work as a Performer, Writer, Story Producer, Development / Talent Executive, and Arts Administrator. She has had the privilege of participating in the intricate details that bring all the elements of a project together from concept to airing. Her writing has placed in notable screenwriting competitions including the Austin Film Festival, Stage 32 Diversity Springboard and also gained her entry in the prestigious Hanks & Miller Screenwriting Program sponsored by Bill & Camille Cosby which she went on to Administer for 14 years, opening doors for Writers of Color in TV and film. At this stage of her career, Doreene embraces her love of acting and writing. With an M.F.A. in TV & Feature writing, Doreene believes we are at a time when we can tell stories outside of the cookie-cutter design of the past. Stories that utilize cultural and personal perspectives to express our universal differences and similarities. And how delving into the mystical and magical allows an audience to see the vastness of their own consciousness under the guise of humor and entertainment.
