Elizabeth, a beauty shop owner in an Arizona border town, investigates a nun's murder after receiving erotic phone calls from a mysterious stranger. When the murder causes racial division and violence around her, Elizabeth can no longer trust anyone including her own husband. Tired of living in his shadow, Elizabeth becomes drawn into a spiral of sexuality, betrayal, violence, and finally, spiritual awakening.
