Screenwriter Interviews

MovieBytes Interview:
Screenwriter EricIan Schneider

An interview with screenwriter EricIan Schneider regarding the Southwest Writers Writing Competition.

Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?

A: UNSTOPPABLE An American woman risks her life disguised as a man to rescue her husband from a foreign prison.

I entered it, and won, in 2007.

Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?

A: My then-screenwriting teacher recommended it. I have entered this script into the 2008 Screenwriters Expo COmpetition, and have not heard anything yet.

Q: Were you satisfied with the adminstration of the contest? Did they meet their deadlines? Did you receive all the awards that were promised?

A: Yes, Yes, and Yes.

Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?

A: Yes, I was given some feedback, and I found the notes on my heroine to be helpful.

Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?

A: It's given me confidence. And I've used the credit in submitting to several producers in the InkTip Preferred Newletter. Two are reading itnow.

Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?

A: I wrote a short script in 2003, based on a published short story of mine. It made the semifinals in that year's British Short Screenplay Competition.

Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?

A: NO. I have no plans to move. But I'm open to--and free for--any move that would empower my screenwriting career.

Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?

A: Yes. I'm working on a romantic/family comedy, with an inspiring dramedy in the wings.
