Screenwriter Interviews

MovieBytes Interview:
Screenwriter Diane Stredicke

An interview with screenwriter Diane Stredicke regarding the Silver Writing Competition.

Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?

A: The Orchard. It's about a grieving widow who must uncover a shocking secret buried in her family's apple orchard in order to save her son from a vindictive ghost who brings the trees to evil life.

Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?

A: I read about it on Done Deal Pro. I had worked with The Script Department. It was their first year so I thought maybe my chances might be better. It did well. Third place. The script has done real well: 3 third place wins and several finalist placements.

Q: Were you satisfied with the adminstration of the contest? Did they meet their deadlines? Did you receive all the awards that were promised?

A: Yes. This contest met all its deadlines. They notified you over the phone as to the final results. I have received an email about the prizes. They were very efficient and had really great communication.

Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?

A: No. Not really. Just that they liked it.

Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?

A: I know they sent it out to at least one manager. I'll have to wait and see if there are any other results of winning this contest.

Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?

A: The Orchard is my first screenplay.

Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?

A: No. I travel there frequently as my family lives there. I live in the NYC area. If I had to go out for a particular assignment I would.

Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?

A: Yes. Another horror script!
