Screenwriter Interviews
MovieBytes Interview:
Screenwriter Don Adams
An interview with screenwriter Don Adams regarding the Red Inkworks Writing Competition.
Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?A: "Kingbird and Franklin" is the untold story of the extraordinary relationship between Ben Franklin and his namesake grandson. Seemingly trapped in his grandfather's shadow, Kingbird emerges to found a revolutionary new party (the Democrats), prevent war with France, and defend freedom of the press.
Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?A: Red Inkworks has an excellent reputation for its script analysis.
"Kingbird and Franklin" has placed as a finalist, semifinalist, and quarterfinalist in over a dozen competitions.
A: The Red Inkworks contest is administered in a very timely and professional manner.
Script notes are not only given to the winners, but
to everyone who enters.
This makes the contest worthwhile for all.
A: Absolutely. The feedback was exceptionally insightful.
Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?A: It has definitely helped in marketing my script.
Hopefully, it will lead to a sale -- but we all know
how competitive this industry is.
A: I have a background in teaching (ESL) and public relations.
Over the years, I have studied film at the undergraduate and graduate levels -- mostly at Penn State.
There are bits and pieces of my scripts in many a
desk drawer.
A: No, I don't. I would consider moving to LA if the right opportunity presented itself.
Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?A: I have several scripts in various stages of development.
