An interview with screenwriter Alan Baxter regarding the Gimme Credit Writing Competition.
Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?A: The title of my script is "The Crossing" and it won the grand prize in the short category. My script will be produced this year.
A dedicated US Border Patrol Agent finds himself conflicted when he encounters someone from his past trying to illegally enter the US.
A: The winning script will be produced with a professional crew and SAG actors.
I entered other contests and I am still waiting to hear back from them.
A: I am satisfied with the administration of this contest. Erica has been in contact with me via email. I have received my gold upgrade on Withoutabox and my tee-shirt should be on the way. I am still waiting to find out when production starts on my script.
Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?A: No feedback.
Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?A: I am sure being a produced writer will help generate more interest in my scripts.
Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?A: My short script, "Alone in a Crowd" won first place in The Houston International Film Festival, second place in The Writers Place Screenplay Contest, and third place in The Indie Gathering. I co-wrote another short script, "In the Hunt" which is currently a finalist in Shriekfest 2006.
Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?A: I live in LA.
Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?A: I am writing a feature about HIV/AIDS.
