Screenwriter Interviews
MovieBytes Interview:
Screenwriter Diana Jones
An interview with screenwriter Diana Jones regarding the Blood Candy Short Writing Competition.
Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?A: Gutter Soul - First Place
In Earth's dark future, youth is a hot commodity. Business is brisk for ruthless black marketeer O'Neill, who sells his precious youth serum to select customers--that is, until he becomes the target of a client set to avenge her sister's death.
Trapezoid - Third Place
Two mercenaries and long time friends celebrate their greatest payoff. But their past sins finally catch up to them when they are captured and convicted of genocide--and face the ultimate punishment.
A: I did an online search and was intrigued by the Blood Candy website - Gutter Soul and Trapezoid were my first competion entries.
I entered Gutter Soul in the Gimme Credit short screenplay competition and won second place.
A: Very prompt and efficient to deal with.
Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?A: No feedback, but the wins alone were enough to encourage me to write more scripts.
Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?A: My success with this competition really fueled my determination to produce more scripts, which I've done and will continue to do.
Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?A: I'm a prolific writer of science fiction, horror/paranormal/dark themes. As a second grader, I wrote a horror story that astonished my teachers, and included a crude illustration. Every so often I look through my old manuscripts and have a good laugh.
Several other scripts are entered in numerous competitions.
A: Already a resident.
Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?A: Always - one in progress, another right behind it.
