Screenwriter Interviews
MovieBytes Interview:
Screenwriter Pam Dulgar
An interview with screenwriter Pam Dulgar regarding the Moondance Writing Competition.
Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?A: "Orphan Train" 11-year old Whitney, an orphan heiress, is sent away on one of the orphan trains headed West by her devious uncle. She befriends a rowdy street orphan, Willie, who convinces her that by joining forces, they can escape to return home and claim her fortune.
This script was a 2008 winner in the "Screenplays for Kids" catagory.
A: This festival has a Children's screenplay catagory. Many festivals fail to see the value in childrens films, yet they are some of the biggest money-makers.
This would be a film for the entire family, as well as educational for children. Parents and grandparents want family-friendly films to enjoy together.
A: This was a very well run event and the people were wondeful.
They also hosted educational classes that were very well presented and informative.
The accomodations were especially nice.
A: Feedback was minimal by well done.
Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?A: This script has generated interest from several sources and it would appear that it's on the road to being made soon.
Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?A: I'm a first time winner with an original script.
Background included over 10 years of writing and trying to perfect my work. This is my second script
It seems that it's never ever really done.
A: I do not live in Los Angeles. I live in Reno, Nevada which is about a one hour flight to LA.
Several producers and directors are seeing the value in living in Reno for quality of life and for tax purposes, + the easy access to the city.
There is quite a little community of film-oriented people here as well.
A: I've just completed the research for my new script which I hope to have done by the end of the year. Thanks for providing a forum for all of us struggling writers.
