Betrayal at the Wedding

A young couple gets married only to find that their single, dating parents, have their own agendas when attending their wedding reception.

Ally and Edward make plans for their wedding, but they are very concerned about their divorced parents attending. Ally is particularly concerned, as her father, Pete Morgan, has found it difficult to go on with his life after fifteen years as a single man. While Pete has dated over the years, he never quite recovered from the loss of his marriage, and secretly wants to put the relationship with his ex-wife back together again.

At one point during Ally and Edward’s courtship, Edward’s father, George Roberts, tried to date Ally’s mother, Miriam Morgan. Miriam found George to be attractive, but was too involved with her man, Sherman, to be interested. Besides, when Pete Morgan heard about it, he was beside himself.

At the time of the wedding, Miriam Morgan is dating Sherman, Pete Morgan has a lady friend, Eleanor, George Roberts is dating Lisa, and Hannah Roberts, lovely and gorgeous, is pretty much on her own. Each parent that has a steady date brings them to the wedding, and Hannah comes by herself.

Miriam’s Garden Club ladies help with Ally’s shower, and are proud to attend her wedding and witness her marriage to Edward. They are also surprisingly astounded to see and witness the crossfire of events and personal interests between parents and partners that take place at the evening’s reception, and watch with eye-popping amusement.

During the reception, Hannah, the groom's mother, manages to get a dance with her ex-husband, George, when his girlfriend, Lisa, leaves the room. George gives Miriam, the bride's mother, a flirtatious eye; while the bride's father’s lady friend, Eleanor, makes a bee-line across the room and asks Miriam's boyfriend, Sherman, to dance when the band erroneously calls Mr. & Mrs. Morgan to the dance floor.

At the end of the evening, while the crowd and wedding party are dancing and acting crazy around Edward, who is wearing Ally’s veil, non-drinking Pete Morgan has his own plan. He gathers up all of the unopened liquor behind the bar, along with Hannah, who is sitting by herself. He leaves the reception with the widest grin on his face, the liquor, and the prettiest lady.
