Martyn Hobbs has had three plays produced. The first, A History of the Machine, was staged at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh and won a Fringe First award at the festival. The second, Macquin’s Metamorphoses, was commissioned by the Traverse and produced the following year. Carnevale, co-written with Jay Natelle, was produced at Teatro Le Laudi in Florence, Italy. Martyn's screenplay Telling Tales won the Dreamcatcher competition run by Screen South and the British Film Council.
