Cafe Society Blues

Shoe salesman Barney Josephson is 'booted' from the Cotton Club for challenging its ironic restriction policy against black patrons-in Harlem no less. He soon opens his own notorious nightclubs of the late 30s and 40s that become the target of red-baiting from J. Edgar Hoover, the gossip columnists, to HUAC, until the bitter end...and a triumphant coda.
