“THE CAT AND THE RAT”

Written by Mark Mc Quown and Donna Lizzio Original Music by Donna Lizzio

In ancient Egypt, during the time of Pharaoh, about 4500 years ago, the Royal Cat, Horus, is accused of being a thief and of taking the King’s jewels. Horus hears about the rumor that jewels are missing so he decides to investigate.

Horus finds his old friends, Tor and Badru, down in the Artist Village right next to the construction of the big pyramid. Tor and Badru can’t tell Horus anything but they promise to keep their ears sharp for any information.

On his way back to the mud hut he shares with his sister Bast, Horus runs into Bast who whisks him off into a dark alley to tell the horrible news that the thief is really him, Horus the Royal Cat.

Horus can’t believe it himself so he sends his sister off for her protection and he goes off in search of anyone who can help him. Horus finds his way into a set of secret, underground passages where he literally runs into Tarik, a large Pack-Rat, living in the tunnels under the King’s court.

Tarik explains to Horus that he took the jewelry because he was forced to by a large and unfriendly Mau cat named Set. Set is the real villain and ends up telling Pharaoh that Horus was the true thief and that Set will capture him.

Set and his gang of alley-cat-thugs goes after Horus but all they can capture is Bast, his sister and then Gemini, a female Mau cat that tried to help Horus find the real thief.

Tor and Badru end up hiding Horus and Bast’s parents, Osiris and Isis and then they find their way down to the underground tunnels and help Horus and Tarik trap the real criminal, Set, and his gang.

In the end, all are reunited as the real thief, Set, has been gobbled up by a live, underground wall that has been filled with spirits by Pharaoh’s priests. “The Cat and the Rat” is a classic, Disney style animated feature with world class music and lyrics by Composer/Lyricist Donna Lizzio.
