Chavez Days
A 1970s terse romantic period piece drama in Central California about a 30 something man named Brian who becomes a priest in order to save his mother's life and ends up good at the profession; he finds himself in the middle of a standoff between the parish church and the land owners who mistreat their field workers during a time of boycotts and protests. He falls in love with a widowed migrant worker who discovers she is pregnant with his child and disappears while Brian, devastated, finally leaves, too, only to search for her until he finally finds her many years later.
