I AM JOHN HORSE

There was another civil war in America, 30 years before the war between North and South. In the early 1800s on the Florida frontier, a group of Blacks joined with a band of Indians and fought the US military for their land and their freedom, the longest war ever fought on American soil. They never surrendered. This is the story of John Horse, a biracial young man who finds his identity and courage as his world is torn apart by war and dislocation. He becomes the leader of his people, The Black Seminoles in their heroic struggle for self-determination, a piece of American history too long untold.
