Scriptapalooza was founded in 1998 with the goal of helping as many writers as possible through the competition. We have over 90 production companies, agents and managers reading all the entered scripts. (A complete list of participants is on Scriptapalooza's website.)
We actively push the Semifinalists, Finalists, Runners-Up and Winners for a full year with the intention of creating opportunities for the writers. We are a hands on competition because we feel it is important to continue supporting the top scripts beyond the cash and prizes. No other competition in the world does that.

Rules
This competition is open to any writer, 18 or older without produced feature film credits. Entering the competition constitutes permission to use the winners' names and likenesses for publicity and promotions with no additional compensation. We reserve the right to publicize and promote any and all progress, development and success of the entered scripts.
- Any script from any genre will be considered.
- Multiple entries are accepted, provided a signed entry form and appropriate entry fee is attached to each submission.
- Multiple authorship is acceptable. If the screenplay wins an award, that award will be divided among the writers, by the writers.
- Screenplays must be the original work of the author.
- Scriptapalooza recommends registering your scripts with the WGA or copyrighting your material with the Library of Congress.
- Entry must be accompanied by the following:
a. completed official entry form (photocopies are acceptable)
b. the appropriate entry fee
c. completed original feature screenplay

Scriptapalooza Contestant Publishes Novel, Sets up Film
Scriptapalooza contestant Vasilios Bouzas has adapted his script as a novel entitled THE CURSE, and has set up the project up as a film with Australian production company Momofilms.
Scriptapalooza Interview:
Q: How did you get your novel published?
A friend of mine suggested a company called Port Campbell Press to publish the ebook version. After sending them a copy to read, they loved it, so they published it.
Q: What is the novel about?
Synopsis:
A young boy Luke Whelan, lies dying in hospital from terminal cancer, an old woman and Luke's young father by his side. Luke is about to be saved but to do so the old woman will give him a precious gift-or is it a curse?
As Luke grows into a young man he finds out about the deadly curse that saved his life. He can save people's lives by touching them, but in turn he ages.He must now embark on a perilous journey to save his own life again and those of everyone around him.
Facing an immortal being from the bowels of hell and pitted against the forces of a tyrannical US government, the Mafia, God and Satan, never has one man had to overcome so much and reach a point where the ultimate decision of good versus evil must be made.
Q: How did you get a production company interested in your film?
With great difficulty. For over a year I tried contacting production companies but most of them were busy with their own projects. One producer said to me that he had a room full of scripts to read and it would take him a good six months to read them and being a first timer where nobody knows you does not help. Believe me , after trying to contact production companies for so long and nobody wanting to read your material you just feel like giving up. But this is where you have to stay positive and strong. If you think that you are worth it and your material is good enough you have to persist and persist , fight and fight, everybody will knock you down but you have to take the punches, get up of the floor and keep fighting. Scriptapalooza always recommends sending out Query letters ... this is what I did and eventually got Kate Whitbread and Spencer McLaren from MomoFilms in Australia to read the script.
The rest as they say is history. Remember: fight , fight, fight, believe in yourself and never give up.
Q: When does the film come out?
We will start shooting the film mid to late 2013 and hopefully will be out in 2014.
