NHFX/New England Screenplay Competition Announces Winner

Alfred Thomas Catalfo was the Grand Prize Winner of the NHFX/New England Screenplay Competition for his feature comedy screenplay MALL COP. The screenwriting award was presented before a packed house at The Music Hall in the historic seaport city of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, at the conclusion of the three-day New Hampshire Film Expo. Catalfo received the 2004 NHFX "Granny" for Best Screenplay, $500 and the choice of a script consultation or a "work in progress" session with Craig or Judy Kellem of Hollywoodscript.com. In his acceptance speech during the award presentation, Catalfo donated the cash prize back to NHFX. The surprised NHFX Directors accepted the gesture in traditional group-hug style.

Catalfo, a trial attorney, also had another script, the political thriller CHARISMA, selected as one of the four finalists along with DREAMER by Rock Shaink Jr. & Mark Jonathan Stanley, and THE INNOCENCE OF RUTH by David E. Smith. The competition was open to writers from New England and the Canadian Maritime Provinces. During the past two years, Catalfo has been a winner or finalist in 20 international screenwriting competitions.
