Objective

The Cinequest Screenwriting Competition continues to empower global connectivity between screenwriters, filmmakers, producers, and innovators. Entering it’s eleventh year, the competition retains a stellar reputation that hinges in no small part on its knack for exhibiting a compelling mix of stories from around the globe and providing opportunities for writers to tap into a network recognized for accelerating their drive towards success.

Winners and finalists are presented alongside high profile Maverick Spirit awardees like J.J. Abrams, Chuck Palahniuk, Neil Gaiman, Philip Kaufman, Michael Arndt, Diablo Cody, and more at the highly anticipated Writers Celebration during the Cinequest Film Festival (Feb 23- Mar 8, 2015).

Submit today for a chance at $7000 in cash prizes! Seeking all genres, including comedy, thriller/mystery, sci-fi, and highly original material for features, short-films, and teleplays. Submissions accepted June 1 – November 7, 2014

FEATURES: A $5000 cash prize will be presented to the winning feature-length script. Finalists also get their scripts read by industry professionals. Past participating readers have included: ICM Partners, Lions Gate Films, Happy Madison Productions, XYZ Films, First Light Films, Goldstein Company, Big Bad Wolf Production, Popular Films, and Occupant Films.

SHORTS: Back by popular demand is the short-film category with $1000 cash prize and screening opportunity at a future Cinequest Film Festival for the winning script.

TELEPLAYS (NEW): New to this year’s mix is our teleplay category offering writers a chance to showcase what could be the next hit series on TV! This category offers a $1000 cash prize to the winner.
